Steve Dunne has been the lead guitar player/musical director for Lydia Pense and Cold Blood since 1992. Touring nationally and internationally, Steve has also co produced Cold Blood’s 2006 CD “Transfusion” with former Tower Of Power sax man Skip Mesquite . Two of Steve’s compositions, “Face The Music” and “ Coming Back”, are featured tracks on the album . Pairing up with Jefferson Starship’s drummer Donny Baldwin, Steve also co produced Cold Blood’s release “Live Blood” in 2008 and in 2011, he wrote the songs “The Little Things”and “Closer to You” on Cold Blood’s latest EP. “The River City Sessions”.
Steve stretched his “blues legs” when he joined Texas Blues singer Kat Cairns and played a bevy of nightclubs, festivals and events with her band, Kathleen Cairns and Tattoo Blue. The two collaborated on many of the key songs that helped the band form it's signature blues/rock sound.
Eight of his original songs are included the album“What’s Left Don’t Feel Right”, of which he also produced. Steve and Kat continue to write and perform together when the stars align.
In addition to regularly touring with Cold Blood, Steve is currently recording, performing and writing with the funk/soul/rock&roll band Mr.December in Northern California. He co- produced their recent EP “Long Hot Summer” with the band’s guitar player and founder Jim Papastathis in 2012 and is currently working on the band’s second album due out this spring. A 7-piece band featuring lead vocalist, Dana Moret and a horn section, Mr. December blends the old with the new, allowing Steve to write and play whatever inspires him with no boundries. With Mr. December, Steve has shared the stage with bands like Pablo Cruise, Frank Hannon (Tesla), and Los Lobos.
More of Steve’s work can also be heard on recent CDs by Deacon Jones, Jake Sampson , Madalyn Rose, Kevin Shields and The Creations, and Latin Rock band, Bandito.
Steve is also involved in music education, teaching music classes for the Consumnes Community Services District in Sacramento County, CA and giving private guitar lessons to students of all ages.
Whether it be performing, songwriting, producing or educating, Steve Dunne brings years of experience and talent to each project he is involved in. As a musical supervisor, band leader and director, Steve's work is refreshing, innovative and modern while still maintaining an heir and reverence for the "old school" sound that is making it's way back into mainstream music today.
